About KP Beyond the Surface
About KP Beyond the Surface
I was born in Korea, educated in Canada, built much of my professional life in Hong Kong, and later made my home in France.
Each place shaped me differently.
Korea gave me my roots and the persistence to keep moving forward. Canada opened my mind through
an education that encouraged independence and different ways of thinking.
Hong Kong taught me international business in
practice, working with people across cultures in a fast-moving global environment.
France brought another dimension: the value of questioning, reflection, and thinking about how we want to live,
not only what we want to achieve.
Living between these cultures taught me that there is rarely one right way of doing things.
What works remarkably well in one country cannot simply be copied elsewhere. We need to understand what lies
behind it: the people, culture and circumstances that made it possible. Then we can consider what we can learn
from it, what we can adapt, and how we can reshape it within our own environment.
That thinking became the foundation of KP Nalgae.
KP Nalgae was born in Paris, where, after years of moving between countries, cultures, work and life, I found a
new sense of clarity about what I wanted to create.
My roots are in Korea, but much of my perspective was formed outside of it. This allows me to see Korea from both sides, with an understanding of where it comes from and the distance to see what may not always be visible from
within.
Korea is an important starting point for what I want to share, but KP is not only about Korea. Drawing on my
international business experience and understanding of different cultures, I want to connect and interpret what
sits behind what we see: the people, the way they work, the cultural context and the thinking that has shaped it.
From there, the question becomes broader. What can we learn from another culture? What makes sense for us?
And how can we adapt and reshape it within our own environment rather than simply copying what has worked
somewhere else?
Through business, culture and family, I want to create meaningful encounters that give people something to think
about and something valuable to bring back to their own world.
This feels particularly relevant in the age of AI. Information and ideas are everywhere. What remains deeply human
is our ability to meet, question, interpret, connect and give meaning to what we experience.
“Nalgae” means “wings” in Korean.
For me, it represents something simple: not telling people where to go, but helping them see further and find their own way forward.
KP Nalgae connects business, culture and family to create a more human understanding between countries.
Beyond the surface. Through people. Across cultures.
